I’m back, (then I’m going)
April 28th, 2008 by DavidI know it has been to long since I wrote anything, but I have been doing a lot of fly tying demo’s, and tying class’s. Yes and some fishing. Up to the end of March,(that is when trout season closes for 2 months on the Rogue to protect the smolt’s heading to sea), so I have been working with the Big Butt, (Jerry Fosters Steelhead rod) and getting a few great fish. I have started to lay off the winter fish, because there are just to many fish redding up, and I don’t want to bother them.
I will be heading out Thursday for the FFF show in Ellinsburg WA. I will head for Maupin OR to spend the night with Bob & Laura two of my closest friends. Maybe get to hit the evening hatch on the Big D. Then Bob and I will head up to both tye at the show. Although We could drive it in one day easy, I am sure it will take me 3 or 4 days to get home, as there are a lot of rivers and streams between here and there.
As for the fishing here. The Caddis is going nuts, (but again the river is closed to trout until Memorial Day). The Salmon Fly Hatch will also start then. OK the sales pitch for the day. Those that want to get a float trip for this fantastic hatch, get a hold of me soon, because June is booking fast.
When I get back from this show I will be posting some pictures and patterns that I like for this hatch for those that tye your own.
See ya soon,
David
